here is an abstract from UKIP Forum provided earlier by one of numerous supporters of UKIP who wish to see the Party cleaned-up and made fit for purpose as a party which morally decent INFORMED folk could once again support:
I'm no great fan of Nigel's Leadership or Management Skills although I do recognise his oratory and presentation skills are second to none in UKIP. I would be surprised if there was anyone to match him in the party.
However, I don't think Nigel is divisive. I actually think Nigel is a unifying force within UKIP! Nigel is building a party that consists of members who all agree he is wonderful and back him 100%.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, Nigel's method of unifying the party is therefore to drive out or marginalise anyone who disagrees with him. That definitely makes the party more united and more homogeneous in the name of "professionalism" No dissenting opinions allowed. Get on message or get out.
I have been in this party many years and have seen how it works. New members join, often admittedly because of hearing Nigel speak or seeing him on TV. They are 100% Faragist and many never progress beyond this view. However, some members do ultimately decide the God does have feet of clay. They then face a choice. If they want to progress in the party the only way to do that at the moment is to be vocally and visibly pro-Nigel. If they decide they cannot do that then they either leave the party (which many thousands have done over the years); stay a member and just keep working in their own local area to get our country back, since at the moment UKIP, for all it faults, is the only viable game in town (which is what many branch members do); or speak out and try and change things in the party (which ultimately leads to them either giving up and leaving or being hounded out. Again just look at the list of former members of UKIP if you want to see how often this happens).
Personally I am in the camp which recognises Nigel's very great strengths but also his significant weaknesses. I came very, very close to being driven out in 2008 but decided to swallow the humiliation and stay and fight for change from within. Not very successfully I must admit so far. However, the acid test will come with the new party constitution. I suspect this will be the watershed for many people, including me!
Steve, how on Earth can you say that only those who are vocally and visibly pro-Nigel can progress when you are Vice-Chairman? Seems like a straw man argument seeing as you have repeatedly criticised Nigel and backed a rival leadership candidate.
Actually the post of Party Vice Chairman is in many ways analogous to Vice President of the USA. A post required by the constitution but which has no power or authority and is a good place to park someone out of the way. It balances the ticket and puts a potential threat inside the tent p1ssing out rather than having them outside the tent p1ssing in.
I consider my most significant current contribution to UKIP to be my membership of the NEC. Something I was elected to by a vote of the membership, not appointed to by anyone.
Do remember the number of proven liars on the NEC such as Mick McGough and at the last NEC meeting you also had the proven liar Stuart Agnew MEP numerous individuals on The NEC have with monotonous regularity brought UKIP into disrepute.
Sadly not least in the order who have brought UKIP into disrepute are the likes of Godfrey Bloom with his sordid behaviour with prostitutes IN PUBLIC and invoking UKIP's name when arrested.
Likewise the fraud boasted of by Derek Clark MEP.
The lies repeatedly told by Nigel Farage in efforts to cover-up and collude with Tom Wise MEP.
The fact that Tom Wise MEP was NEVER disciplined within the party and was defended with lie after lie by Douglas Denny & Nigel Farage until finally he was sent to prison for 2 years for his crimes.
I do not believe there is any merit to claim in being one of a committee of fools, low lifes, theives, self servers and liars!

How unifying can he be when he has lost 25% of his MEPs. Rumour of another one or two following keeps coming up. If he had strong leadership qualities UKIP would have 12 MEPs and be sitting in the EFD unmolested working to whatever it is MEPs do.
If you take the numbers quoted by Michael Heaver that Nigel got 45% of the vote in the 2006 Leadership Election and 60% of the vote in 2019 then he is obviously uniting the party as level of dissatisfaction with him had dropped significantly. He therefore cannot be considered divisive. That is simple maths. His support in the party has gone from between 4 and 5 out of ten to 6 out of ten members who voted.
However, with all statistics you need to look beyond the numbers. In 2006 the UKIP Membership was around 16,000 and in 2010 it was around 15,000. Just getting rid of 1,000 members who might not be 100% behind Nigel would have contributed significantly to the rise in his apparent popularity. UKIP's headline membership churn is somewhere around 30% (although I believe it is reduced somewhat after telephone "whipping in") and a fairly high proportion of those people who leave are, in my personal experience, members who would not have backed Nigel in a Leadership contest but accept that he is practically unbeatable while he controls the media access obtained by the party (and hence prevents anyone who may challenge him from developing a higher profile) and Nigel holds the power of patronage for paid employment slots and promotion to winnable places on the MEP Lists.
Taking a simple analogy. A ton of Hematite (iron ore) is about 70% iron and 30% other material. So to get the purity up to 95% (typical pig iron) requires a considerable reduction in volume. A ton of hematite will produce at best around two thirds of a ton of pig iron. No matter how good your process you cannot convert 100% of Hematite into iron. You have to lose the impurities, you have to refine the material and discard the unwanted parts. So the end result of the process is a high purity, homogeneous pig iron ingot and piles of unwanted slag. UKIP membership is the same. Feed in unrefined members, reduce the volume until only the high purity, pro-Nigel fraction remains and discard the unwanted slag. So to keep the total membership constant requires a continual input of new members to replace the discarded slag. Of course there are always some impurities remaining, those stubborn elements that can't be totally removed. The answer to them is mask them and minimise their effect!
It is not a leadership quality to pile dung higher to strut as a popinjay crowing at the expense of and benighted by lack luster surroundings.
OK so the large majority of readers of this blog and also of Junius are UKIP Supporters - there are also the low lifes who visit looking to see what lies they can invent about me to desperately hang onto their position as maggots in the dung heap.
STOP FOR A MOMENT - Appreciate I have ALWAYS supported Nigel Farage as a performer and have without fail made every effort possible to TRY to clean-up UKIP and expose the vile specimens that are exploiting both Farage and UKIP for their personal gain.
OK - NOW NAME the top 20 public performers that have been trained and can be trusted not to say something crass as one would expect of Mick McGough, Douglas Denny, Annabelle Fuller, Stuart Agnew MEP, Derek Clark MEP, Godfrey Bloom MEP, David Bannerman MEP, William Dartmouth MEP, Paul Nuttall MEP, Michael Heavers Childrens Wing, Hugh Williams The Untrustworthy Wing, Rachel Oxley The useless Tendency, Harry Aldridge Childrens Wing, Kris Seunarine Idiots Wing, Andrew Smith The Dishonest Tendency, George Curtis The Dishonest Tendency, William Shaw Idiots Wing, Need we go on?
Just who BESIDES Nigel Farage has one shred of visible competence and lets face it despite standing on a dung heap of his own creation Farage has maintained his ability but imagine what could have been achieved had UKIP not permitted Farage to destroy the party and turn it into his own private vehicle - even paying his wife £30K a year and Annabelle Fuller - how can ANYONE claim that is displaying probity, morality, integrity or ANY sign of leadership caliber?
